Two-headed Baby Dies in Poverty in Bangledesh!

A two-headed baby born in Bangladesh has died because his parents could not afford proper medical care.
The baby, a boy named Kiron, died at home after developing a fever and breathing difficulties, Agence-France Presse reported.
He was born on Monday by caesarean section weighing 5.5kg.
150,000 people gathered at the clinic where he was being cared for, with police needed to control the crowds.
Doctors advised the parents to transfer Kiron to a hospital in the capital, Dhaka, but they could not afford to take him there.

David Duchovny(from the show X-Files) enters rehab for his sex addiction!

LOS ANGELES - David Duchovny, who plays a sex-obsessed character on Showtime's "Californication," has entered a rehabilitation facility for sex addiction.

The 48-year-old actor said he did so voluntarily, in a statement released Thursday by his lawyer, Stanton Stein. He added: "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."
Duchovny's publicist, Flo Grace, confirmed the report, which first appeared on the Web site People.com. She and Stein both declined further comment.
"All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best during this very private time," the network said in a statement.

The second season of "Californication" begins Sept. 28.
Duchovny starred as the conspiracy-minded Fox Mulder on "The X-Files" TV series and in two films. "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" opened in theaters earlier this summer.
He and his wife, actress Tea Leoni, have two children. The couple married in 1997.

McCain chooses Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for V.P.

DENVER - John McCain tapped Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a conservative who shares his maverick streak, to be the Republican vice presidential running mate on Friday in a startling selection on the eve of the Republican National Convention.
In an announcement, McCain's campaign said that Palin, who has been governor less than two years, "has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of.
"Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today," the announcement said.
McCain and Palin were appearing together in swing-state Ohio later in the day.
Palin has a strong anti-abortion record, and her selection was praised warmly by social conservatives whose support Mccain needs to prevail in the campaign for the White House.
"It's an absolutely brilliant choice," said Mathew Staver, dean of Liberty University school of Law. "This will absolutely energize Mccain's campaign and energize conservatives," he predicted.
With his pick, McCain passed over more prominent contenders like Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, as well as others such for former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, whose support for abortion rights might have sparked unrest at the convention that opens Monday in St. Paul, Minn.

The timing of McCain's selection appeared designed to limit any political gain Obama derives from his own convention, which ended Thursday night with his nominating acceptance speech before an estimated 84,000 in Invesco Field in Colorado.
Public opinion polls show a close race between Obama and McCain, and with scarcely two months remaining until the election, neither contender can allow the other to jump out to a big post-convention lead.
At 44, Palin is a generation younger than two of McCain's seven children. She also is considerably younger than Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, who is Barack Obama's running mate on the Democratic ticket.
She is three years Obama's junior, as well — and McCain has made much in recent weeks of Obama's relative lack of experience in foreign policy and defense matters.
In its formal announcement, the campaign pointed to her powers as head of the Alaska National Guard and the mother of a soldier herself as evidence that she "understands what it takes to lead our nation..."

Picture of Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband

McCain has had months to consider his choice, and has made it clear to reporters that one of his overriding goals was to avoid a situation like 1988, when then-Sen. Dan Quayle was thrown into a national campaign with little preparation.
A self-styled hockey mom and political reformer, Pallin was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, population 6,500, until she became governor.
Palin flew overnight to an airport in Ohio near Dayton, and even as she awaited her formal introduction, some aides said they had believed she was at home in Alaska.
She is a former mayor of Wasilla who became governor of her state in December, 2006 after ousting a governor of her own party in a primary and then dispatching a former governor in the general election.
More recently, she has come under the scrutiny of an investigation by the Republican-controlled legislature into the possibility that she ordered the dismissal of Alaska's public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper.
Palin has a long history of run-ins with the Alaska GOP hierarchy, giving her genuine maverick status and reformer credentials that could complement McCain's image

On the eve of Hurricane Katrina's 3 year anniversary,New Orleans prepares for the worst!

Hurricane Gustav is headed in a straight line for New Orleans and I can tell you first-hand that the hydraulic pumps don't work. Who manufactured the defective pumps? Moving Waters Industry (MWI), which is owned by J. David Eller, who was once a business partner of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. (From 1989 to 1993 the two operated the company Bush-El, which marketed MWI pumps.)

A brave and brilliant woman from the Army Corps of Engineers, Maria Garzino, complained to the Office of Special Counsel (OSC) about the failure of the hydraulic pumps manufactured by Moving Waters Industry (MWI) and installed in New Orleans.

She should know. She was the team leader of pumping system installations. The OSC required the Department of Defense Secretary to conduct an investigation into her disclosures. The Department of Defense Inspector General substantiated more than half of her allegations, but ultimately concluded that . . . the deficiencies [were] performance related short-comings that did not rise to the level of a serious violation of law or regulation, abuse of authority or gross mismanagement.

So with that being said, what should one think about this? It's so difficult to read things like this.Although it is not certain that Hurricane Gustav will strike New Orleans, but for a city below sea-level its better to be prepared then not to be!

Thee years after Hurricane Katrina laid waste to the New Orleans area, there is indisputable evidence of recovery.

Houses are being repaired or built. New and long-established restaurants are seeing busier days. Health care institutions are reopening. Music is pouring out of crowded clubs lining Frenchmen Street. Streetcars are clattering once again along the entire St. Charles Avenue line.

And sales of cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe du Monde's legendary French Quarter stand have climbed back to about 80 percent of what they were before the storm struck on Aug. 29, 2005, said Jay Roman, vice president of the business.

But Xavier University President Norman Francis has a warning for the overly cheerful: Don't be deceived.

For Francis, whose home near the London Avenue Canal was wrecked by floodwaters, Katrina has left a lingering presence that he likens to a garish dye stain in a rug.

"The deeper you go, you see more," he said. "You keep rubbing and say, 'I think I've got it.' No, we don't have it all."

The signs of Katrina's legacy are both visible and subtle. Although a smattering of homes are rising in the Lower 9th Ward, much of that working-class neighborhood -- and swaths of Gentilly, eastern New Orleans and St. Bernard Parish -- remain virtually untouched.

Thousands of people who fled Katrina's wrath are still struggling to come back home from what they had envisioned as temporary havens across the country. And the storm left its psychological impact on just about everyone, even if it amounts to little more than tensing up when storm clouds form.

"I think that, since Katrina, everyone reacts in a much more hypervigilant way than we did before," said Joy Osofsky, head of the pediatric mental-health division at LSU Health Sciences Center.

Although she said tests have shown that the number of people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression has dropped by about 30 percent since the storm, Osofsky, a professor of pediatrics and psychiatry, said the symptoms are more acute among some people with those conditions.

"The recovery has been slow," she said. "There are neighborhoods still with just a couple of houses on the street. Families are still separated."

Even in neighborhoods that have bounced back, stubborn reminders of the hurricane linger in the form of blighted properties. A report released last week showed the percentage of vacant homes in New Orleans outranks any other American city by a huge margin, with New Orleans' rate, 34 percent, nearly doubling that of Detroit.

My Political Stance!

I am not going to even lie I was and proablywill be a avid Hillary Clinton Supporter, but watching the Democratic National Convention each night this week has opened me up to a change, especially tonight. Obama's speech took away many doubts that I had about what he could do for this country. After thinking over the 8 years of the leadership here in the US, I've realized that I CAN NOT VOTE ANOTHER BUSH TO OFFICE. All democrats need to unite together and vote for a change. Like Hillary Clinton said in her speech,"No Way, No How, No McCain!"

Obama is a great look for The African American Community. It shows that there are actually African-American men out there who loves, and supports their family. This picture of Barack and Michelle speaks a thousand words!

Whoever you want to be in office, please make sure on November 4 that you go vote. Let your voice be heard!

Obama Speaks at the final day of The Democratic National Convention

By DAVID ESPO and ROBERT FURLOW, Associated Press Writers

DENVER - Surrounded by an enormous, adoring crowd, Barack Obama promised a clean break from the "broken politics in Washington and the failed policies of George W. Bush" Thursday night as he embarked on the final lap of his audacious bid to become the nation's first black president.

"America, now is not the time for small plans," the 47-year-old Illinois senator told an estimated 84,000 people packed into Invesco Field, a huge football stadium at the base of the Rocky Mountains.

He vowed to cut taxes for nearly all working-class families, end the war in Iraq and break America's dependence on Mideast oil within a decade. By contrast, he said, "John McCain has voted with President Bush 90 percent of the time," a scathing indictment of his Republican rival — on health care, education, the economy and more.

Polls indicate a close race between Obama and McCain, the Arizona senator who stands between him and a place in history. On a night 45 years after Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I have a Dream Speech," Obama made no overt mention of his own race.

"I realize that I am not the likeliest candidate for this office. I don't fit the typical pedigree" of a presidential candidate was as close as he came to the long-smoldering issue that may well determine the outcome of the election.

Fireworks lit the night sky as Obama, his speech concluded, accepted the cheers of supporters. His wife, Michelle, and their daughters Malia and Sasha joined him as the country music anthem "Only in America" filled the stadium. Vice presidential running mate Joseph Biden and his wife, Jill, joined them onstage.

Depicted by McCain as too young and inexperienced to sit in the Oval Office, Obama responded with an oblique reference to his rival's temper.

"If John McCain wants to have a debate about who has the temperament, and judgment, to serve as the next commander in chief, that's a debate I'm ready to have," he said.

Campaigning as an advocate of a new kind of politics, he suggested at least some common ground was possible on abortion, gun control, immigration and gay marriage.

Obama delivered his 44-minute nomination acceptance speech in an unrivaled convention setting, before a crowd of unrivaled size — the filled stadium, the camera flashes in the night, the made-for-television backdrop that suggested the White House, and the thousands of convention delegates seated around the podium in an enormous semicircle.

Obama and his fellow senator, Biden of Delaware, leave their convention city on Friday for Pennsylvania, first stop on an eight-week sprint to Election Day.

KILLING IN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

El Socorro, Trinidad and Tobago was a horror scene Monday morning when a couple was attacked and shot by a gunman at their apartment.
The husband, 38 year old Nicholas Tavernier and his 41 year old wife, Sharon Henry died in the hospital shortly after arriving.
Officers investigating the case suspect the double murders occurred as a result of an argument Tavernier had with someone and say an arrest is imminent.

The police reported that the husband and wife were getting ready to leave their home at around 4:45 AM when Tavernier was pounced on at the front gate by several men. A fist fight ensued, during which Tavernier was shot.
His wife ran straight into the assailants upon hearing the ruckus outside and was shot while trying to rush back into her home. Her daughter found the couple in pools of blood and called police.
Both victims worked in the field of security, with Henry being an employee of Amalgamated Security Co. Ltd. And Tavernier, a security manager with a Auto Village in El Socorro.

SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY DEACTIVATES AKA CHAPTER

Southeastern Louisiana University has deactivated an off-campus sorority, some members of which were arrested in an alleged January hazing incident that law enforcement authorities would not disclose in detail, a university spokesperson said.

The approximately 15-member Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority chapter at SLU in Hammond was ordered on June 24 into inactive status for three years. At the end of that period, the sorority may seek to reapply, Christina Chapple, SLU spokeswoman, said Friday.
Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s deputies said Friday they arrested eight AKA sisters at SLU on counts of hazing, false imprisonment or other violations. All eight were arrested between Aug. 11 and 19, jail officials said.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto said she could not describe what incident prompted the arrests but would say only that the incident occurred on or about Jan. 7 in a house at 18233 Old Covington Highway, Hammond.
Also, Panepinto would not confirm aspects of the incident aired in other news reports, saying doing so could compromise an ongoing investigation under way since February. She said the case has been turned over to District Attorney Scott Perrilloux of the 21st Judicial District.

But seven of the eight arrested woman are the same students who sued SLU in April in state court to block their suspension over an alleged hazing incident Jan. 8, federal civil court records show.
According to court documents, SLU student Ariel Ellis accused the seven of locking her in a room in January, making her take her clothes off, beating her with a belt and a paddle, asking questions about her sex life and forcing her to simulate oral sex with a banana.
Ellis recanted her claims two days later and then later reinstated them. SLU officials asserted one of the sorority sisters urged Ellis to recant, records show.
Harry Lawrence Daniels III, an attorney who represents the seven woman in the civil suit, said his clients stand firm that no hazing occurred and there is no evidence that hazing occurred.

On April 28, U.S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon dissolved a temporary restraining order that had briefly halted the sorority members’ suspensions. The suit had been moved to federal court April 16.
Three students involved in the case were suspended for one year, Chapple said. Two were suspended for a semester and the remaining three were given disciplinary probation, which allows them to go to classes under certain conditions.
The disciplinary actions depended on the students’ involvement, but Chapple declined to say which students received what actions.
She said the sorority did not have a sanctioned house either on or off the SLU campus. Chapple also said the alleged incident that led to the university’s disciplinary actions occurred in a private home.

American Idol adds 4th judge!

To those who care, American Idol adds new judge Kara Dioguardi.Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi will sit alongside Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson when the eighth season of "American Idol" premieres in January, the Fox network said Monday.

"For the past seven seasons, Paula has had to endure the experience of being the only woman at the judges' table," said Mike Darnell, president, alternative programming of Fox, in a statement.
"With Kara by her side, Paula has some backup and now there is going to be a lot more `girl power' on the show," Darnell said.

DioGuardio's songs have been recorded by Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood and Pink, among others.

"We are turning the heat up on `Idol' this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges' table," said creator and executive producer Simon Fuller in a statement. "She is a smart, sassy lady, and one of America's most successful songwriters. We know she will bring a new level of energy and excitement to the show."

SAY IT AIN'T SO..RI RI

Rihanna is on the verge of going broke - and has sacked her business manager Patricia Williams for "no good reason," according to reports.

The Umbrella hitmaker recently met with Williams to check on her funds and was shocked to see that almost all her money was missing; and instantly accused her now ex-business manager of "stealing her money."

Patricia insisted she was fired "for no good reason, all in ignorance" and is "livid" with Rihanna & her management company Rebel One's decision to fire her, reports Blackarazzi.com.

She says, "It's not my fault that she only has $20,000 to her name.

"I'm a professional Business Manager, I have a staff of more than a dozen, I have worked for many high profile actors, musicians and multi-million dollar corporations. Why would I steal from Rihanna?

"I showed her all the paperwork and tried to explain to her the circumstances but she wouldn't listen. She called me all sorts of horrible names and stormed off. I now feel compelled to share with the world the background story as I will not allow my name to be slandered."

Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, has had four back-to-back albums, including a re-release since her debut of Pon De Replay in 2005. Her single Umbrella was number one on both sides of the Atlantic while her recent album Good Girl Gone Bad has sold around 5 million copies worldwide.

She has also performed stadium tours across the US and Europe and signed lucrative sponsorship deals.

According to Williams, Marc Jordan -- the manager and owner of Rebel One Management -- has been taking care of Rihanna's financial situation with her. She claims Rihanna was not properly funded by her record label Def Jam, and her sponsorships and endorsement deals go towards recording and videos.

She explains, "Def Jam doesn't fund Rihanna properly, so Marc uses the money Rihanna makes from third-party endorsements and from tours to fund her album and music videos.

"I don't want to disrespect Marc's name. He is a fantastic manager and genuinely believes in Rihanna. But he uses her money to fund her future projects because he believes he can break her in the world-market.

"Her album sales are not nearly as close to her single sales and he knows that if she is only known as a 'singles artist' she will only be as good as her last hit. Unfortunately, he didn't inform his client and I'm receiving the brunt of it.

"Her record label Def Jam has put out 3 albums in a time span of 2 years.

"Alot of that was orchestrated through her management Rebel One. It was never Def Jam's intention to release so many albums back-to-back but Marc Jordan found loop holes and ways to make it happen.

"A lot of the money Rihanna made through her endorsements between CoverGirl Cosmetics, Samsung.. Notice that majority of Rihanna's videos have a cell phone in it?"
